Mark Brown is Ireland’s first Professor of Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) at Dublin City University (DCU). He was previously Director of the National Centre for Teaching and Learning at Massey University in New Zealand where he was also President of theNew Zealand Association for Open, Flexible and Distance Learning (DEANZ) and and Treasurer of member of the Executive Committee of the Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ASCILITE). Mark is currently an Executive Committee member and Fellow of the European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN) and chairs the Innovation in Teaching and Learning Steering Committee for the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU). He alos serves on the Board of the Irish National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. In 2017, the Commonwealth of Learning (CoL) recognised Mark as a world leader in Open, Online and Distance Learning and he is an Ambassador for the Global Advocacy of Open Educational Resources (OER) on behalf of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE). Mark has played key leadership roles in the university-wide implementation of new models of teaching and learning and has published extensively in the fields of Blended, On-line and Digital (BOLD) education.
